  • For a direct threat or danger, take your phone and essential documents and move to a staffed public area.

Urgent: the accommodation needs action today

  • For a problem with the door, lock, or access control, move first to reception, the lobby, or another staffed area.
  • Contact the accommodation provider or booking platform, describe the issue, and ask about security support, a room change, or relocation.

Less urgent: confirm the next arrangement

  • Only where doing so is safe and will not escalate conflict, record the unusual situation, its timing, and your communication with the accommodation provider.
  • Ask the accommodation provider which handling options are available, and retain booking details and receipts for necessary expenses.
